Fashion Tips I Wish I Known Earlier

When I was growing up, it was hard to style outfits, and my style was all over the place. I didn’t know if I wanted to dress sporty, girly, or even monochrome. I had no clue until I used these fashion tips. These tips helped me throughout high school and will help you put an outfit together without trying at all. I have used these fashion tips to build my wardrobe, and now I can confidently say I love every clothing items I have. Building a wardrobe that makes you feel confident takes time and dedication to doing. So I hope these fashion tips I learned over the years help you.

Buy Clothes That Last Longer

Kemal Alkan

If you haven’t read my clothing stores for broke teens, you wouldn’t know that I’m a broke teen. But having clothing that lasts longer helps with building a good equality wardrobe. Have you ever bought a shirt that was cheap that when you finally wash it, it shrieked or even got worn out? That’s why I try to find high-quality clothing. When buying clothes that last longer, you don’t have to spend much money in the long run. Think about, would you rather buy a jacket that is inexpensive but only lasts for a couple of months or a jacket that is a little more pricer and lasts for years? You can buy anything you want, but I’m mostly talking about having high-quality jeans and jackets. For me, jeans are so hard to find because I’m tall and I like my jeans to be around ankle length, so having good quality jeans that don’t shrink is my go-to.

Have Jewelry

David Suarez

I have posted this before on my Instagram but I truly believe that jewelry will always put together an outfit. When I was younger, I didn’t like wearing jewelry, but when I finally got into it, I liked how I looked. Every time I put an outfit on and don’t wear jewelry, I feel like I’m missing something. Having a necklace or even a bracelet will make your outfit pop out. I love to wear comfortable clothes with jewelry, and it would make me look like I tried. Your jewelry doesn’t have to be super expensive either. Nordstrom, Gorjana, and Pandora are great stores that have some inexpensive jewelry that you can buy.

Have A Basic Shoe Collection For Everyday Wear

Camila Damasio

When starting a new wardrobe, you should start by having shoes that match every clothing item you wear. Shoes that can go with any outfit without searching for the right pair. When I was in middle school, which is between ages 12-14, I always loved cool looking shoes, but they would never match any of my outfits only if I were to wear solid colors. I started realizing if I had a basic shoe collection than my outfit would look better from head to toe. A basic shoe collection means having a pair of black, white, or solid color shoes that you can wear with any outfit. Vans and Converse are good stores to shop for basic shoes. Then when you start getting comfortable with your style, you can branch out into not so ordinary shoes that can be more of a statement piece with your outfits.

Pick Colors Wisely

Karly Santiago

Having a better understanding of color will help with building your wardrobe. The color theory for fashion is when certain colors look good on you due to the pigment of your skin. This theory doesn’t mean you should shy away from certain colors but only the shades of colors. This is my favorite tip because it is so easy to learn. If you have a fair skin tone, lighter shades of colors will work on you. If you have a darker or medium skin tone, darker shades of a color will work for you too. But sometimes this theory can be confusing because if you have a darker to medium skin tone pastel colors will still look great on you. And so as if you have a lighter skin tone, darker shades of colors will look great on you too. The theory is really about the undertones of the color just like your skin. This tip was a life changer that embraced my skin tone and made me feel confident. So next time you are planning to buy a beautiful dress, look at the shade of the color.
