Do you realize how many times we complained about something and we don’t take action to solve the problem? We like to complain instead of finding solutions for things because we either don’t want to or it’s hard to. I learned my lesson from doing so when I saw that big digital clock in Manhattan’s Union Square that was trending all over social media which said we have 7 years, 101 days, 17 hours, 29 minutes, and 22 seconds until the carbon budget depleted. I was one of those people that would complain about climate change and how the Earth is not going to be liveable if we don’t change and not do as much to help. I would always recycle when I had the chance to, but that is about it. For the past week, I have researched how to help the planet, and I wanted to share them with you. So here are some new things that you could start doing to save the Earth.
Use Reusable Products

According to Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), there are 8 million pieces of plastic that make their way into our oceans every day. Buying reusable products will help cut down the waste of plastic. Reusable products help save money and are not that much of a hard switch to make. If you are using plastic water bottles, swap for a traveling water bottle. Or instead of using plastic straws, use reusable straws. When I was doing this, I did realize how much plastic waste I was contributing every day. I also realized I made less waste when reusing products, and I recommend everyone doing.
Buy Local Products

Something about going to a local farmers market makes me feel healthier. I know exactly where the food comes from, and it is so much fun. But did you know it can help the environment too? Buying local mostly involves limited packaging items. This means that the items don’t require extra waste to be thrown away and mostly requires you to use reusable bags when buying your items. It also reduces fossil fuels because the transportation of the food is closer to your local market or farmers market. It does help the environment but also supports your neighbors who have local businesses.
Have A Vegetarian Day

You will be surprised but eating vegetarian food for a day helps the planet. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef and vegetables uses far less water. Also, meat production is a leading cause of climate change, water depletion, soil erosion, and most other environmental problems. Not only having a vegetarian day will help the environment, but you’ll be getting more nutrients, minerals, and fiber in your diet. Having a vegetarian day does not mean having only salads for the whole day. What I like to do is go on Pinterest and find recipes that are vegetarian to make it more fun.
