4 Don’ts To Skin-care

As growing creatures, we like to try new things that we believe will help with the issues we have. Skin-care nowadays is a big trend with new ways of caring for our skin. Trying new things is great, but some of these ideas can be harmful without us knowing.  Some of the simplest things can harm our skin and cause unnecessary problems. So here are four skin-care don’t that you probably didn’t realize you were doing.

Washing Your Face In The Shower

Kevin Baquerizo

I do this all the time. I thought washing your face in the shower didn’t cause any problems until doing more research. Many dermatologists say that it is not very good because the skin on our face is more sensitive than the skin on our body. The temperature of the shower can strip natural oils from our skin. Even though hot water opens your pores, it is better to wash your face outside of the shower.

Exfoliating Your Skin Too Much

Chris Knight

Exfoliating your skin is very good for keeping your pores clean, but exfoliating too much can irritate your skin. When exfoliating,  you are actually removing the protective barrier the skin has. So when you over-exfoliate, it can cause your skin to exposure to environmental toxins and sun damage. Remember to only exfoliate your skin two to three times a week to prevent damaging your skin.

Using Harsh Scrubs

John Cutting

You will be surprised, but face scrubs aren’t that good for you. Now don’t get me wrong, they do have a lot of benefits. Like promoting efficient circulation to the skin or even smoothing and softening rough skin, but they can cause problems. When using facial scrubs, they might cause micro-tears in your skin, which can damage your skin in the long run. A way to avoid this is to find facial scrubs that are dermatologically approved and don’t contain large beads that might permanently damage the skin.

Using the Same Products Forever

Anastasiia Ostapovych

When a product works for our skin, we usually think “Oh wow! I can use this product forever.” No, your skin is always changing. So when you keep using the same products over and over again your skin eventually adapts to the product ingredients, making it less effective.  It’s essential to reevaluate your skin every six months because there are things that can affect it; like your age and stress levels. You should consider switching up your skin routine for every season because every season your skin needs more products than other seasons.
